AwStats is the way to go for sure.
As for google Analytics, I advise against using that until your traffic is up, and you have a low bounce rate, otherwise it can have an effect on your overall search rankings.

I agree. I love AwStats. It's accurate and provides a lot of information.
Google Analytics is just not my taste...

If you havent tried it yet I would highly recommend CrazyEgg.com! They have a great service that helps visualize your users actions on your site with heatmaps and its completely free!
