Send out newsletters.

Send out newsletters or something to that effect to keep your users interested.

You may have a thousand registered users but not all of them are active.

If you send out an email, chances of them paying your site a visit are pretty good. Maybe they forgot your site and are curious what they signed up for in the past.

Keep sending out emails to keep them coming back.

I have been trying to work on a newsletter but I am not the best writer in the world, and it is very very time consuming. Maybe little updates every now and then, I would be able to do.

I found you dont need great writing so much as sales skills. Just write short two to three sentences recaping the specific story or all the new things going on. Also IME using Constant Contact http://www.constantcontact.com/ has been a great tool to send out newsletters and track open and click thru rates.

A newsletter does not need to be a big chore as you are making it sound.

As simple as information that has been updates. Personally I do it weekly with items as simple as, latest reviews, and newest members, or user interviews.
