Any tips on how to SEO forums when it is a general topic such as gaming? Keywords, etc.

Try adding descriptions to each category/forum. Containing even keywords as game, arcade, mmorpg, aso. Keywords related to gaming.

Also try adding somewhere on bottom such keywords too...

Also try to add such relevant keywods and description to forum itself.

Add vbSEO and and also vbSEO sitemap.

Italicize, bold, etc. your main keywords.

I use VBseo and I chose the option for it to use the first few keywords from posts and threads. I think that is the best option for seo.

I love Vbseo. Though, I have gone further than just using that I like adding the H1 and H2 for the threads and all. I think it gives a better look. But really these days there is no exact science. The best way is till build quality backlinks and make your site as compliant as possible. If you want to be a stickler you can go an add al tags to all your images. They have alot of those in vbulletin without tags. But you dont want to overdo it. I like using nice descriptions for my forums which are rich in keywords. You can even make them bold or use strong. I dont know how much it helps, but looks nice
