Is signature link is effective?

I want to know about effectiveness of signature links to promote a site, any idea?

The simplest explaination:
1. It depends on your post quality. If you keep making low-quality posts, then people will think that you're disturbing (that means that it's useless and sometimes it can make your site's reputation low)
2. How much you post. The more you post, the more you will be famous, the more your site will be opened.

I think better than signature links are links in thread, added as reference for reply.

Sample: a forum user is looking for a specific content/service. If you gonna post as a reply with a link from your site you gonna get much more visitors.

Also, if you gonna reply in a dedicated subforum (related to branch of activity of your site) and you have your site as a link in signature with proper keywords over text you gonna have visitors also.

So i think is vital to "target" your efforts with any forum signatures/forum replies so you maximize number of visitors coming from those links.

Signature links are pretty affective. I used to get the majority of my traffic through signatures.
Just post a lot and post throughout the entire forum, not just one or two sections.

From my experience Signature linking has been some what effectived and has helped me populate some of the other forums I moderate at.
