I actually think miniBB is a little too simple.

I personally wouldn't use it.

I think the only way it should be used is with a main website not just stand alone.

When it comes to creating a forum, many people have many choices, they could choice MiniBB, or PHPbb. But still most people do like to have "Simple" Forums. You know how VB has alot of extra features? Many people really don't look for that in a forum. All I mainly mean is some people like "simple forum Software".

I am into forums.
Onto paid one, I wil prefer VBulletin.
But in free one, I use MyBB, phpBB2 and phpBB3.

miniBB is maybe my option also if they support unlimited subforums and easy to edit the styles.

Exactly. It would make a good addition to a site.

Phpbb would probably be the best free one in my opinion. They offer a lot of hacks and styles at phpbb.com. The problem is if your not good in coding good luck with the hacks.
